If you are looking for a professional back-up utility to backup your hypervisor hosts (VMware or Hyper-V) you are in luck. Veeam; who have led the industry in Virtual infrastructure backup solutions for some time now have announced recently a new free edition of their latest product offering called VeeamZIP.
To learn more about it and to download a copy visit this URL: http://www.veeam.com/virtual-machine-backup-solution-free.html
From what I can tell, the main disadvantage to the free edition versus the paid product is the ability to automate or schedule back-up jobs. If your happy to maintain back-ups manually then this tool will fit the bill perfectly as it has much of the seemless functionality that earlier products from Veeam have had.
Have you seen this one:

I’ve used it on a few HV Hosts that are only hosting 1-2 VM’s, and it’s fine.. can do scheduled backups too!
Also just installed it on a couple of 2012 HV Hosts, and it works well!

Hey mate, that looks really good – and no I hadn’t seen their product before. I will give it a go an trial the free version. Looks competitive to the Veeam solution and as you say let’s you do the scheduled backups. Cheers for the tip!
