Office Sway the new creative presentation tool for Microsoft Office

Microsoft has just launched a technical preview of a new application that will join the Office family called ‘Sway’. I am interested as this new tool seems to be a re-invented web-friendly Publisher cross between PowerPoint and some Prezi attributes. As you can see from the video above and the sample Sway I have embedded in this post, the target platform for the content you can create is web-based for all devices.

Following the new Microsoft vision of mobile first, cloud first; this tool will certainly enable content to be created and shared in new ways and will enable users who are not web-design experts to create presentable content online easily. I am really keen to see how this new tool will work in the education setting. I can see it becoming a useful alternative for students to submit projects or present a research topic. Teachers could enhance lessons by using Sway to create a more interesting spin on a topic either inside the classroom or those who are creating content for the flipped classroom model.
